After a nice rest with our families to celebrate Easter, we are back, straight into our home learning. I am a little sad as this half term is my favourite time of the year as I get to share Food Technology with the whole school. Unfortunately this is not practical for everyone to do from home as not everyone, including myself would have all the ingredients to hand. But we can have great Art activities to do with what we have at home. If you don’t have a certain item, say paints, then colour, stick, chalk, whatever you can to enjoy my Art activities… Send me your pictures, messages or queries to r.curtis@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk so we can share our successes and failures together.
In Art this week…
Reception we challenged to make a weather mobile with their families, wow, this really was a lovely thing to make together and look great hanging in gardens and homes.
Year One drew beautiful pictures themed on Easter. There was even one very large decorated cross made from a cardboard box, I do like a bit of recycling.
Year two were asked to complete a fun senses hunt, drawing things they could see, touch, smell, taste and hear. Disappointingly only five children did this, If you forgot or didn’t feel like it and haven’t done your art activities, go and have a look, you can catch up and send me pictures, I want to see what you do and celebrate with you, just like in Art in the Create room at school.
Year three followed instructions and made a snake mobile showing their cutting and pattern making skills, these look fantastic.
Year four were asked to create a volcano, as they started their new topic with Mrs Lyons on volcanoes. This could either be a drawing, painting. collage or a 3D model, we had a lovely selection of each including a fully erupting one from Mark.
Year five created lovely collage mosaics by either choosing squares or triangles. Tess made one and told me it was similar to the Japanese art Kintsugi , I was then told a delightful description . When things get broken into many pieces , they use gold to stick them back together- like a mosaic. So we never forget our wounds but find beauty in their scars.
Year six had some fun as I showed them how to make a mini me with a difference. As this was only today’s (Friday) session I’m looking forward to seeing all the fabulous perspective artwork over the weekend.
I really like the picture at the top of my blog this week. We all have those days where we don’t want to, or feel we can do anything, have a look, what step have you been sat on this week? How can you move up the steps, how can we help each other take a chance? Tomorrow is always another day, a chance to start again.
Stay safe.
God bless
Mrs Curtis
