Good morning children. It’s our last Wonderful Wednesday of the school year - Can you think of 3 wonderful things about your time in Reception?
Today’s Learning Activities:
English - Traditional Tales
Watch and enjoy the story of Jack and the Beanstalk
Discuss the story and see if you can answer these questions: What did Jack swap for the cow? What was special about the beans? Who lived at the top of the beanstalk? How did Jack escape the Giant?
Do you really think that if you planted beans like in the story, they would grow overnight?
Have you ever grown anything before? I know some of you have been growing things during lockdown.
Look at CBeebies: How Does Your Garden Grow? for some advice and ideas about growing plants at home. (Why not plant some seeds which sprout quickly to maintain the children’s interest.)
Maybe you could make a quick-growing cress head like in Mr Bloom’s nursery:
If you don’t have any seeds are available, maybe you could grow leftover vegetable scraps to use in salads.
White Rose Maths
Look at Lesson 3 w/b 29th June
Today we are going to look at the story of Oliver’s Vegetables again. Oliver has been planting vegetables with his grandad. Can you help him to work out his problems? Then help him to sort his vegetables and say how he sorted them.
Learning Characters
At school we have 8 learning characters that help us to focus on what we need to do to grow our brains. Can you remember them all? (Cooper Crab, Sadie Spider, Roger Robin, Tommy Turtle, Clara Clownfish, Lizzie Ladybird, Kiki Chameleon and of course enthusiastic Bobby Bee)
Can you draw a picture of each of the learning characters and think about how you can be more like them?During the summer holidays can you try to do things that help you to grow more like each of them?
Have fun and think how you can continue to grow your brain - you might want to set yourself a challenge and see if you can achieve it before the end of the holidays. (Learn how to ride your bike, learn how to climb to the top of the climbing frame or go across the monkey bars, learn how to tie your shoe laces, be able to count to 100, or count in 2s or know your address. These are just some examples of things that you might want to do but I’m sure you could think of your own. )
PE
Remember it’s really important to keep active. Think about what you can do today to keep active. Maybe you want to have a go at something you are good at because you enjoy doing it. Or maybe you know there is something that you would like to get better at and need a bit of practise with. Maybe you would like to have a go at more than one thing! You choose!
I hope that you have a super day.
Don’t forget to send me some photos of what you have been doing. (Please send all photos by lunchtime tomorrow so that I can make them into a little photo movie. Thank you)
