TASK 1 - Read this important introduction and watch the film!
Now today is all about our beautiful planet! In Year 5 you are invited to become a member of our Eco - Council. This is a special group of children who place our beautiful planet at the heart of our community. St. Ignatius not only teaches us about gratitude but he also teaches us about discernment and our ability to be prophetic. Now, discernment means to practice good judgement, to do the right thing and to help others to do it too. Prophetic means to speak out about what is wrong even when people don’t like what we are saying. At the moment our planet is sick. People (all around the world) are polluting it. We each have a responsibility to do the right thing and look after it. In school this involves recycling, switching off lights/computers and to retrieve litter. Listen to what Pope Francis has to say to us all about the problem of pollution. Click on the picture to link to the film
TASK 2 - DOES IT MATTER IF WE DROP LITTER? AN EMAIL NEEDS SENDING!!!
Watch this beautiful film. You will need to take notes. Right down what happens because of litter. Now imagine you have seen Mrs Hotchkiss regularly dropping litter in our playground. I want you to be prophetic and loving. Write an email to her explaining to her why they shouldn’t drop litter- explain the consequences of her actions. Take care with your tone. Your teacher may be doing the wrong thing and we can be upset with their choices but we still love them. Made a little film to remind you how to send an email on Purple Mash. Watch the film first (it is sad).
TASK 3 - REDUCE RECYCLE AND REUSE!!!
Watch the film all about Reducing Reusing and Recycling. Now watch my film which sets you two challenges. You may do one or both. If you are a Keyworker Child - can you do the poster and then once at home you could have a go at the making challenge!
TASK 4 BATTLESHIPS!!!
We have worked really hard with our coordinate work! Today we are going to learn how to play battleships. Battleships is one of the oldest games played over time. I have linked you to a film which explains how to play brilliantly! I have also attached a PDF of the grid for you to print out. Of course you can take paper out of your maths square paper to play. Have fun!!!
