Year 4 Friday 10th July Learning form Home with Mrs Hotchkiss

We have reached our final day together until we meet properly in September!

Today we are going to investigate the Ancient Greek Gods!!! Now we know from our learning yesterday that The Olympic Games were dedicated to Zeus. The people flocked to a mass Temple dedicated to Zeus in which stood a massive Gold statue of him! Unlike the great faiths of today who believe in a creator God the Anceinet Greeks beliweved that several Gods watched over them. These gods were a bit like humans, but they lived forever and were much more powerful. They felt human emotions, like love, anger and jealousy, and they did not always behave themselves. (who does this remind you of? Yes the Romans and the Vikings!)

TASK 1 - REVIEW OF LEARNING AND INTO TO THE GODS

The Greeks thought the gods lived high above Mount Olympus, in a palace in the clouds. From here, they kept an eye on life below. From time to time, they would interfere in what was going on. They could send storms if they were angry and decide who was victorious in wars. Sometimes they even played tricks on humans too.

Each god and goddess had power over a different aspect of life or the world- Let’s find out more!!!

Firstly we are going to watch this fantastic little video which recaps on some of our learning from yesterday and which also introduces the gods.
