‘The beauty of Christmas is not in the presents, but in His presence.’

Today we had our Christmas jumper day, full of festive cheer! The children had so much fun on their Christmas Treasure Hunt. It was so wonderful watching them work co-operatively together to fill Santa’s beard. Thank you for supporting the children to raise money for Brian House. The children will be dancing for Brian House next Tuesday and we kindly ask that you sponser them £1 to do this too.

How have we grown our brains this week?

In Maths, the children have completed their learning about addition and subtraction and have begun learning about shapes. So far the children have been identifying the following 3D shapes: cone, cube, cuboid, cylinder, pyramid and sphere. Please could you challenge the children to name these 3D shapes around the house.

This week has been History ‘week’. The children have been learning all about Queen Elizabeth II and know that the word monarch means King or Queen. The children learned about the royal family tree and were able to use the family tree to identify who would be the next monarch. We will continue our History learning next week, when they will be attending the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II - how exciting!

In RHE the children have been identifying positive and negative feelings. During circle time, the children shared times when they had felt this way, for example: ‘I felt sad/happy/excited/worried/when….’ The children listened so thoughtfully to each other and recognised that because of our likes and dislikes, we feel differently too.

In RE, the children learned about the Christmas story and retold it beautifully in their own words. I’m so proud of how their independent writing has come on!

Hip-Hip-Hooray!

Star of the Day

Each day I will pick a star of the day. The star of the day is someone who has been a role model throughout the day. As only one child is chosen each day, it is a huge achievement and the child should be super proud of themselves! This weeks stars have been: Louis, Toby, Beth, Finley and Teddy.

Certificates

Co-operative Roger Robin - For being a considerate learner. Lorenzo, you have tried so hard this week to be a whole body listener and push yourself in your learning. When you sit beautifully and put your hand up, it encourages other children to do the same. I have also heard you use so many kind words this week. I am so proud of you Lorenzo!

Focused Cooper Crab - For being a focused learner. John Paul, every lesson you are always so determined to grow your brain and don’t let anything distract you from getting your learning done.  Your learning this week has been amazing – your challenge is to remember those cheeky full stops! Hocus Pocus John Paul!

Notices

  • Dates for the diary:

    • Tuesday 15th December - Christmas Danceathon (in classes), on Tuesday 15th December. We will be raising money for Brian House again on this day. It would be greatly appreciated if children could bring a £1 coin to dance for Brian House.

    • Christmas Party Day - Thursday 17th December On this day, children can come to school in their best party clothes, but please do remember sensible footwear and warm layers as we will still be going out for playtimes.
