We have certainly brought a feeling of a newsroom to St Annes this week, and in particular, to the houses and school of the Year 6 children. I have really enjoyed seeing the children’s creativity this week when designing their own headlines around situations that they have set up at home and at school. I have created a slideshow of some of my favourite ones. The children will continue to be roving reporters at home and at school for the final two weeks; writing their own newspaper reports about Clockwork…and maybe some of their own.
This week, I have asked the children to think about the offerings that they can make as human beings. In our world, pandemic or no pandemic, we can all offer something to somebody else: a smile, a helping hand at home, washing up after dinner….the list is endless. We are all trying our very best to support each other at the moment. Let’s see what offerings we can make. I am going to set the children some kindness missions next week. I thought Hannah and Francesca summed up our work on it beautifully.
A huge congratulations to everyone who is tackling fractions at home…they are not easy but everyone is persevering and doing their very best. So far we have tackled adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions…there is only one area left - DIVISION! I like dividing fractions as something unexpected happens that I didn’t expect! This week we also finished our work on the UK. The children again have done a fabulous job and we are in the process of collating all of the children’s work and displaying it in class ready for when the class comes back together. We have displayed the WANTED posters on Frankenstein’s monster…take a look for yourself!
I have asked the children to vote today for which science unit of work they would like to complete next…we start on Monday!
Knockout Learning
Well done to our four learners of the week: Jayden, Daisy, Jakub and Elizabeth. All of you are constantly striving to be the best that you can be and to submit work that shows progress. You have all excelled in writing and geography especially this week. Well done…we are so proud of you.
I hope that you have all enjoyed watching and seeing the children’s learning for this week…they really have done themselves proud.
Have a restful weekend.
God bless
Mrs Gregan
