Good morning Year 1! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and had some wonderful family time together. For those children who are now learning remotely, below is a message about reading books that I shared last week.
On the how to help your child page, you will find a link to the Accelerated Reader Portal. Lots of your books at home, will be on accelerated reader. You can type in the name of the book and quiz on these, just like in school.
Oxford Owl has lots of ebooks which are free to read. You can create an Oxford Owl login here: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/user/sign_up.html
Epic is a website and app which has lots of free ebooks. There is free access to reading books between 7am-4pm on weekdays. On here you can find books by Accelerated Reader level (amazing). You may not be able to quiz on these on the Accelerated Reader Portal - but the main thing is that you are reading and growing your brain. I have set up a profile for all of the children. All you have to do it download the getepic app or go to www.getepic.com/students and type in the class code: rpv1820. You can then select your name and start reading! I can also see what you are reading from home.
If your child does not know their reading level, please feel free to email me. I will get back to you as soon I can. e.lane@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk
Below you will see your weekly challenges. These are challenges for you to do if you have the time. As always, please send any general home learning photos to Mrs Kaur and email myself with any questions/updates. I hope you all enjoyed looking at the children’s learning photos on the Friday blog as much as I did.
What are we learning today?
Phonics
I have removed the table to make the website more user friendly. If you need to check which videos are suitably challenging, you can find the table on the how to help your child page.
Maths
Apologies for the mistake I made at the end: 15 has 1 ten and 5 ones (not 3). Well done to those focused Cooper Crabs who spotted my error. We ALL make mistakes.
English
Today we are going to be doing a shared write - just like we did with Mr Fox. We are going to be doing our writing on Purple Mash, please check your To Dos.
The Gruffalo has purple prickles all over his back and large leathery paws. He has glowing gold eyes and sharp white teeth. He is very grumpy and lives in the deep dark wood. Keep away from the Gruffalo or he will eat you up!
Have a brilliant day year 1! See you tomorrow.
Big smiles,
Miss Lane
