It was lovely to chat to you all over the internet today as we completed our Parent meetings. I only wish you could have shared the children books with them - they take such pride in their work.
READING SUPPORT
As we discussed together - reading remains our main focus. Reading for progress, challenge and enjoyment. All the children visited the library with Mrs Nel on the final day and each child has an opportunity to make a final push to meet their Autumn 1 target ( if you were away, please see link below for online books). On our “Year 5 help page” you will find the following links to help you quiz and track progress:
Quizzing at home - link
Parental access to child’s ACR account - plus guide
Link to free online digital books
Link to Lancashire libraries
Please encourage reading independently and together and really celebrate those quizzes.
MATHS
The children have worked really hard at Year 5 place value. Double check you have completed section DD on IXL this is the whole of DD except: DD12,13,19, and 20
We had a go at lots of these in school - now complete DD 18, DD22 and DD23 over the holidays!
When we return we will be adding and subtracting - decimals including money . Alongside this we will be flexing our multiplication and division muscles (mentally).
IXL has been updated and there is now a fluency section for our tables- section D there are nine units. Complete one a day to retrieve and reinforce these vital mathematical facts!
Keep skills ticking over and have fun with family too!
