Art News… Week 4
With only a month until Christmas, the children are getting very excited. Activities and card making in Art and class Nativities and Christmas song practises, it really is feeling festive already!
In Art…
Reception decorated their star, ready for our Christmas display. Using felt tips the children decorated the star in any way they wished. I will post a photo of the finished display next week.
Year one created their Christmas cards in the collage style. Lots of love and hard work have gone into these cards and wil come home during the last week of term.
Year two used clay in their 3D session this week as we responded to the story of King Cuthbert’s Birthday. We rolled, squeezed and shaped clay to create King Cuthbert’s magnificent crown.
Year three recapped on the artist Henri Matisse and the reason he had to stop painting and started to use collage. We ripped paper from a rectantange and added it to the edges, we then repeated the excerise but using sissors, we realised using scissors made our work neater and more controlled .
Year four created their Christmas cards in the painting style, these will be finished at the start of our next session and will come home the last week of term.
Year five added their blue, final layer to their Reduction Block Prints. These have come out really well and will be completed with hand drawn frames (also Christmas cards) next week.
Year six have started sewing their special Christmas cards in cross stitch. After designing them last week, we cracked on as we only have two sessions to completed them.
Art club had their fourth session and had lots of fun making pipecleaner art. After a little demonstration on how to make a pipecleaner person, I challenged the children to make what ever they thought they could.
As the weather has turned much colder and windy, have a wonderful weekend. the children have told me that many of them are putting their Christmas tree’s up and are very excited. Stay safe.
God bless
Mrs Curtis
