Use your voice for kindness, your ears for compassion, your hands for charity, your mind for truth, and your heart for love"

It has been truly wonderful to have all of our class team back together! We have been busy getting used to our school routines again and most importantly, have been enjoying spending time with each other. The excitement on the children’s faces as they walked through the doors on Monday morning was delightful to see; I was definitely just as excited to see them!

The learning and activities have centered hugely around this term’s virtues loving and compassionate. We have reminded ourselves of the importance of treating others with kindness and respect and what we can do in our every day lives to grow closer to God. These conversations have also linked beautifully to Lent, where we have continued to prepare ourselves for the great sacrifice that Jesus made at Easter.

As well as focusing on ourselves and our relationships, we have also somehow found time for some super learning. We have continued to investigate 2D and 3D shapes and have learned all about vertical lines of symmetry. In English we have been spotting commas and have learnt how they are used in sentences to make a list. We also started planning our own persuasive leaflets for our very own Year 2 Zoo! I wish we could all visit - it’s going to be filled with so many wonderful animals!

I am so proud of the children! They are so resilient and remain so positive in all that they do. They really are a joy to teach! Keep this up Year 2 - Easter’s going to be here before we know it!

Let’s Celebrate

You are beginning to see that mistakes are so important in your learning and you are no longer afraid to make these in front of your friends.  You have been such a Brave Tommy Turtle this week, having a go at just about anything with a huge smile on your face and not giving up when faced with tricky challenges.   Well done Bella –this confidence is amazing to see!

My goodness Cora – what an Enthusiastic Bobby Bee you have been this week!  You have been so engaged in every lesson and your listening has been superb.  It has been wonderful to see you sharing your ideas so confidently with the class and that smile of yours has lit up the classroom when you know that you have completed something well.  I am so proud of you Cora – well done!

Notices

PE Days - PE days are Wednesday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor). Please can you ensure that your child has their PE kit with them on these days. We had lots of children without shorts for indoor PE yesterday and unfortunately we don’t have enough spares for everyone.

World Book Day Book Tokens - All of the children came home with a £1 book token today which can be spent in a range of different ways and places. Storytellers Inc. bookshop in St. Anne’s are setting up a stall outside the shop every Saturday in March from 10am-2pm for children to exchange their vouchers for a book, so it might be worth a visit!

Have a wonderful weekend filled with rest and smiles!

God Bless,
Miss Woodend and the rest of the Year 2 team
