The sun has been shining this week and the classroom has been filled with enthusiasm! I can’t believe we have now come to the end of our Spring term, it has flown by! We are looking forward to another summer term together, full of fun, exciting learning and those much needed challenges, to grow our brains! We can’t wait to have Mrs Hotchkiss and Mrs Nel back in the classroom- physically, not virtually this time!
This week we have fit so much learning in to one week, finishing off our long division in Maths, completing our Easter reflection for you all to enjoy, writing an introduction to a newspaper and lots more. Today we held a council meeting, that turned in to more of a book club, where we shared the book we are reading at the moment, gave recommendations and discussed any areas we may need support in. We celebrated lots of children for either achieving their reading target and those that are close to reaching- well done Year 5, keep reading as it opens the doors to exciting adventures and new journeys! Every child now has either got a book they are trying to finish, a new book they are aiming to finish and some even have two books, for fear they wouldn’t have a book if they did finish their first one!
This week has seen us journeying through Holy Week, we started looking at Peter the disciple, where the children reflected on his struggles and wrote a diary entry from his perspective. We then thought deeply about why Jesus died for us and what the crucifixion means to us as Christians, leading to the Resurrection that brings hope for all our futures and a chance for a new life. Please reflect, watch and enjoy our Crucifixion portrayal and if you would like, you could even try watching from Reception all the way to Year 6…
Let’s Celebrate!
Faye for being such a well rounded learner and always being ready to learn!
Kaya- wow your enthusiasm and thirst for learning shines in everything you do!
NOTICES
Following government guidelines, children are recommended to keep their skills ticking over throughout their holidays. This is vital for the children, therefore we have posted some short daily tasks for the children to complete each day- please take a look at the homework page so that you can encourage and support them at home.
The children will be welcomes back to school on Monday 12th April- opening times as usual.
We hope you all have a happy and holy Easter with your families and a good rest. God bless,
Mrs Hotchkiss, Mrs Nel, Mrs Harrison, Mrs Russell and Miss Bassett
