Art News… Week Four
The weeks are flying by, I can hardly believe we have only two weeks left of the school year, how will we fit everything in!
In Art…
Year one had great fun embellishing white cotton fabric strips. We drew patterns on them in felt tips and added some sparkle with glitter and sequins. These will be added to the weaving plate from last week and next week we will make our own dream catchers.
Year two studied artist Bridget Riley for the second part of their art. We looked at how these played with our minds and seemed like some were actually moving. Using black paper, we had a go at some for ourselves. Our scissor skills are developing nicely. Great job year two.
Year three created a bowl from a balloon and some brown gummed paper. Working in pairs, the pressure was on to cover their balloon with pieces of the special gluey paper (a modern version of paper mache). After one layer we had to add a second to give it strength. These have since been cut in half ready for decorating next week.
Year four added to their work on Francis Bacon, we drew our facial features in different expressions using a mirror to guide us. We them cut the out and stuck them on paper but altered the positioning a little to give us a distorted image, we thn drew the rest of our face, hair, jaw etc to give us an unusal version our us.
Year five looked at the work of the artist Dale Devereux Barker and how he could make art about absolutely anything, What he had for breakfast, a leaf he saw on the ground and the sock lefy by the laundry basket. We chose a word and had only ten minutes to create a small collage of what the words means, this was tricky and everyone really pushed themselves. After that we had to design and make plans for our collage nexy week, titled ‘Days of the Week’. We thought of something we did on each day and planned for it. We will use these plans to make our collage next week.
Year six had a different art this week, the art of drama, as they practised their play ready for filming next week, they had a live and socially distance audience in the form of Reception to cheer and boo inthe right pkaces. Great job year six, I can’t wait to see you all shine.
Have a fabulous weekend, I shall be visiting my youngest son, who has just finished his four year degree and I’ve not seen since Christmas. Hopefully the sun will shine for us all.
God bless
