Year 5 Weekly Blog 2.12.22 ' Never stop learning because life never stops teaching'

As the weather has got colder, Christmas has got closer with us now entering December and also completing the first week of advent. With the help of Mrs Connolly and Mrs Webster, the classroom has really come to life with Christmas decorations, along with the school hall being all decked out. Nativity practices are also underway in foundation and key stage one, which teaches us the importance of Christmas- the birth of Jesus Christ.

We kicked the week off with our first school trip of the year. The children had a lovely day out at Lytham Hall, with the weather surprisingly holding up as the sun was out all day. We used this trip as a celebration for the childrens work with the assembly and how they expressed the importance of protecting the world. The children got to experience some things that they wouldn’t usually do such as getting the train, running up and rolling down hills and mounds, and discovering different types of plants.

Let’s Celebrate

Molly-Ann for being a determined learner: You always have a go at whatever task we are doing and have really taken responsibility of your learning outside of school. Even when the work gets tough, you still want to get the most out of the task.

Anncia for being a focused learner: You are always on task and ready to learn. You never let any distractions guide you away from your learning and you are always engaging in every lesson.

Notices

We will be out a lot next week, heading to church to practice for the Christmas concert so please make sure the children have a coat and maybe a hat and gloves to combat the cold weather.

Christmas concert- Will take place at church on Thursday 15th December at 2pm and 7pm. Children have been given a booklet which includes the song lyrics so they can practice at home. A video of our in school practices are available on the homework blog.

Christmas cards- As a school, we have decided to not send individual Christmas cards top each other but to instead donate money to charity. If they would like, children can write one card for the whole class.
