On Tuesday and Thursday, the whole of Key Stage 2 ventured down to church to begin our concert rehearsal. As I sat there listening to the children sing their hearts out and say their lines with such confidence, I could not help but smile. The words that they said and how they spoke with such emotion, filled me with hope. This group of children are the future and our hope - I think we are in really good hands. It is safe to say, you are in for a real treat next Thursday. On Tuesday, we also had such a lovely treat - we watched the Foundation Stage nativity. It was so magical and special, reminding us all of the true meaning of Christmas.
Where has our learning taken us this week?
We have had a lovely week in class. Full of hard work, enthusiasm, laughs - Now that we have completed all the work on our class novel, we can now just sit back, listen and enjoy hearing how the story unfolds- it has been very dramatic! A few gasps were heard in the classroom, as we are learning just what an evil character Vindictus Sharpe really is!
English - We have started our Biography topic this week. We have thought about why people would want to read biography and looked in to the meaning of the words, auto, bio and graph. We have also started to look in to Walt Disney, in preparation for his biography next week, where we will be gathering information.
Maths - redistribution strategy for adding and subtracting large numbers. We have also been reading, writing, partitioning and making very large numbers.
RE- we have been researching the life of Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela, focusing on how these individuals fought for Justice.
Science- We have researched how the industrial revolution affected two varieties of peppered moths.
PE - Netball in our invasion games. We braved the elements on Wednesday to have a go at the skills associated with the game and applied them to a large game. So many tactics were used to win the ball.
Leading Learners
Well done to Grace and Kai this week.
Grace you have been so focused this week, like every week, in every lesson. You get lost in every task that is given to you and approach your learning with such a calm, determined and enthusiastic way! Thank you for being so engaged in our lessons and showing just what you are capable of in your work
Kai, what a beautiful learning partner you are. You have such humility and compassion that it shines through in your interactions when working with others. You listen to others, explain your thoughts beautifully and what I have been recently so proud of is the way you share when you are worried or do not fully understand something, this bravery has allowed you to take your learning to new levels!
Prophetic and Intentional butterflies
This half term we will be on the lookout for all the children that are intentional with their actions, who make deliberate choices for the good of others. Those that are prophetic, who may stand up to injustice for the greater good even when it is difficult to do so. These children are the role models of the school, who may march to the beat of a different drummer, but who make a big difference not just to our class, but to our school. This week we thank Amber for your honesty and speaking out for injustice.
