Art News… Week 6
We made it! We are now officially half way through the school year! It has sped along and we have achieved so much. With longer daylight hours and warmer weather in our grasp, we can’t wait for the other half.
In Art…
Reception had fun trying to copy my pictures, an apple, a house, a flower and a cat. We had to look carefully and draw what we see, we could then colour them in if we wanted to.
Year one were very excited to paint their clay dishes. We used either gold or silver paint and added black detail where the impressions were. These look so amazing and have already gone home.
Year two finished their printmaking topic by completing their relief block prints from two weeks ago, we printed the different pads onto paper and the dip dyed fabric from the beginning of term. There were lots of gasps as the prints were revealed. (The children have brought their pads home to do some more printing if they want to). In Computers we also finished our questioning topic, looking at pictograms, binary trees and databases. We are getting really good at our computer skills and we are excited to move onto our next computer topic after half term.
Year three used safe print pads to carve a fantasy skin (to show off their personality), they chose the colours and printed them in their sketch books. These look great and would look amazing as skin/fur.
Year four continued with their money containers, most have sewn their purses together and some have even added a fastening. When we come back after half term, we have one more week to complete these, along with decoration for us to evaluate the week after.
Year five had a very chilled session as they continued with their watercolour challenge, to match colour and pattern to William Morris wallpaper samples. These are fantastic and when held up at a distance it was hard to see where the wallpaper was. Great art year five.
Year six completed their 3D Rainforest animal masks, by painting them as real as possible. Mixing colours, showing texture and shade. These are on display in the Create room and allways get a lot of attention from other year groups.
Art Club finished for group 3 this week, as they painted anything they wanted to, in any colours. As always the children were sad that their sessions had come to an end but all had enjoyed their time. The new members of my Art Club, group 4 have been informed and will start the first Tuesday back after half term.
Blue Peter, two sisters are now trying to see who can get the most Blue Peter badges. Isabella in year five and Charlotte in year 2 are my latest additions to the Blue Peter wall, and both have said they will get more than their sister. I do love healthy competition and Blue Peter is a great programe. If you have gained a Blue Peter badge recently and would like to feature on my Blue Peter wall, bring your badge to me in the Create room and I’ll snap your photo and add you with the others.
Have a wonderful half term break, whatever you are doing, stay safe and well. See you in a week.
God bless
Mr Curtis
