Art news… Week 3
Another packed week of learning and fun at Our Ladys. Some classes have started their Cafod walking challenges for Lent. The field has been dry enough to use for playtimes , football and netball clubs are in full swing and our choir has started up again, lovely to hear the children sing so beautifully.
In Art…
Reception had an eye, hand co ordination task when I visited them this week, threading a pipecleaner with colourful beads. These were then tied and worn as a beautiful bangle.
Year one responded to a charming story of a worm called King Cuthbert and had to use brush control to create all the worms invited to his party.
Year two showed just how far they have come with their brush work in painting by responding to the story of Wilberforce the Frog and his journies across the marshland.
Year three looked at the painting ‘Starry Night’ by Vincent Van Gogh and all the linework within the painting. We had a go at recreating these patterns before colourmixing shades of blue to make our own painted night sky.
Year four were going to be tie dyeing their tshirts this week, but with some children being poorly I have put this off to next week so hopefully we have a full class again. We created our specail cards for Mothering Sunday at the end of the month instead.
Year five used saws and hot glue guns to make the working section of their moving space toy operated with a cam mechanism. We measured, cut, glued and checked all the essentail parts so we are ready to make the space part of our toy.
Year six used watercolours to create bold Pop Art Words in their sketch books, using a thin black outline to make them pop!
Art Club met for their third session and painted an eye mask. They were given only the primary colours and had to mix any additional ones themselves.
Have a fabulous weekend. Stay safe.
God Bless
