FAMILY LENTEN TASK
Dear parents,
As you will have noticed we are walking in school and out of school to support the CAFOD mission “Walk Against Hunger”. Our class will be walking from here to St. Joseph’s Church in Ansdell (next Wednesday 30th March). We will take part in a short worship before walking all the way back! Mrs Gregan and Mrs Webster have created a beautiful display at the front of the school with pictures of all the classes walking.
Would you walk as a family this week as part of the homework. Please send a picture so we can add it to the display. The children will enjoy this homework—time with you. Send to l.hotchkiss@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk
Please visit parent pay too to make a donation for all our walking.
READING
We are two weeks away form the end of term. This is an opportunity now to reach your reading target. Make a concerted effort now to get to the end of your current book so that you can take your quiz and see how near you are. I think a number of you will get it! You’re close!
MATHS
We have launched into models that express the long multiplication this week. We have also gone deep with multiplies of 10,100 and 1000. Please complete IXL F17 and F18.
TT Rockstars:
How close are you to your next gig? Go for it! Can you join the 420 club (all 420 facts learnt and mastered)
SPELLING
We have complete the next unit of our spelling program - we have explored words with cious with the sound “shus”:
vicious
precious
suspicious
conscious
spacious
GEOGRAPHY
We are studying North America. This week we have learnt that there are 23 countries in North America. We have realised that the continent includes the USA (there was some confusion there). I have given the children the flags of the countries and a description of the countries location. The children have to cut them up and match the geographical description to the flag. Glue them with care into your homework book. I have included a political map of North America—you may find a better one online.
Thank you for all you support - it is very much appreciated
