Art News… week 5
Another fabulous week made all the more special with the glorious sunshine. It has been lovely not to wear coats at break time ( I even had to dust off my sunglasses).
In Art…
Reception, Year two, five and six all made those special cards for Mothering Sunday this week.
All the children from all year groups have made a card in line with their art topic this half term, so please check bags before Sunday.
Year one responded to a lovely story of a child with spots on his tummy (rather apt at the moment with all the chicken pocks). We listened and painted what his tummy looked like, using the primary colours and our improving brush skills.
Year three looked at different well known artists, Constable and Turner in the more traditional style and Lanyon and Hambling in the modern abstract style. We looked at the way each painted skies and seas. We had a go at each style then chose one that we liked the most and did a larger sea/sky scape in that style.
Year four finally got to do their tie dying in textiles. We had to work really hard twisting and tying the elastic bands around the t-shirts in the style we wanted. Everyone chose a colour from blue, turquoise, scarlet, magenta and orange. These are now being dyed at school and will come home with a care notice before the Easter break.
Year five as well as creating beautiful cards for loved ones, also checked and repaired their Cam operated moving toy and made the toppers and back drops. Next week we will paint and decorate.
Art club had their fourth session and used pipe cleaners and beads to create fun items. Next week will be their last session.
After Easter, Art will pause as the Create room becomes the Create Kitchen. All classes year one through to year six will be joining me for Food Technology. We have not been able to do this for two years due to the pandemic and great excitement is in the air. All children will need an apron and a tea towel as well as the ingredients for each session (These will come home and be on the website nearer the time).
Have a wonderful weekend, I understand the weather is due to stay nice, fingers crossed. Don’t forget the clocks go forward Sunday morning (an hour less in bed!). Stay safe.
God bless
Mrs Curtis
