" Brave Macbeth!" W. Shakespeare

As you can see from our weekly quote - we have returned to our favourite playwriter - Shakespeare. We are exploring the play in English. The children are such confident performers and we’ve had some fun working through the story- full of twists and turns. Alongside these drama lessons we have dived into our history topic “Crime and Punishment” we made the link between the witches in Macbeth and how witchcraft was considered a crime. In Maths we have ploughed on with our fractions and angles. In RE we have begun to explore the religion of Islam and this will be extended so we can understand how the Islamic Empire spread and became a centre for learning, science and medicine. We had two highlights of the week our trip to St. Bede’s and the fabulous Gym Jam Jog! Sadly I was on the gate and Mrs Nel was on the table and we didn’t have our i-pad going!!!! I’ve managed to source some pictures from other members of staff - I do apologise

COSTUMES

The end of year play is rapidly coming upon us! In year past we have asked our parents to help with costumes. Below is a short list of what the children will require:

GIRLS will need: A white blouse - this can be a plain and simple shirt or a fancy frilly blouse

BOYS will need: Smart long trouser (could be school trousers) a smart shirt with a tie or bow tie.

The children need to bring in these items for Monday 4th of July in a bag with their name on it. Thank you!

Have a lovely restful weekend for the Year 5 team.
