Year 3 homework to be handed in on Thursday 19th January

Well done class- so many brilliantly drawn flags! Everyone had a cracking go at spelling all the countries too - in fact most children got them all correct!

READING

Reading as always remains the most important home learning task. Please read with your child daily- with them, alongside them and to them.

MATHS Mrs Hotchkiss

Mrs Hotchkiss has pinched the maths homework again. We are trying to skip count efficiently in 4’s and 8’s. Can you concentrate on the 8’s - can you display these numbers at home in the kitchen, bedroom bathroom! Please recite when walking to school, in the car or even while you clean your teeth - keep skip counting so they become second nature!

8 16 24 32 40 48 56 64 72 80 88 96

As well as mastering this skip counting please complete Unit k - Understanding multiplication K1 K2 and K3 on your IXL.

Maths Miss Bassett

This week we have been looking carefully at gaining accuracy and efficiency at finding compliments to 100. Please complete the sheet below. Make sure that you explain to your parents how we could answer these questions is by using a part - part - whole model… Just like we did in our end of unit quiz.

For Example:

100 = 56 + ___

The answer is 100 = 56 + 44 because

50 + 40 = 90 and 6 + 4 = 10

90 + 10 = 100

SPELLING

We are back onto our RWI spelling scheme this week - unit 5! words ending in “ture”

Please have these spelling reading for next Friday:

adventure

capture

creature

departure

feature

fixture

fracture

I have attached the spelling here as flashcards for you to use if you wish - this would have really helped me. You can write them using Look Cover Spell Check too in your homework book. Be aware that there are more words in the attached flashcards - those are for next week - only learn the ones above for this week - thank you!

GEOGRAPHY

This week we explored the physical features we would see if we visited the Artic Circle. Please watch the following film all about GLACIERS.

Thank you!!!
