You're only wise when you know you're never done learning!

What a busy three days in school!

This week we welcomed changes to our teaching team. Mrs Hotchkiss and Mrs Conolly have joined Miss Basset, Mrs Barker and Mrs Carter. We have split the week in half so Miss Basset is teaching Monday to Wednesday and Mrs Hotchkiss is teaching Thursday and Friday. We have split subjects too so that the children generally know the direction of the learning depending on the teacher!

The children have worked extremely hard. They have been reestablishing friendships and sharing, in RE, what was special about there Christmas holiday, thinking deeply about the special times we shared that brought us true happiness. Miss Neves celebrated their art work on Wednesday and Miss Basset was keen to jump back into maths and a new novel - “The Ice Cat!” The children were inquisitive Clara clownfishes, asking great ‘wondering’ questions about what might happen in the story based on the cover and the first chapter. We developed our book vocabulary as we discovered the author, illustrator, blurb, extract and review. When reading your home reading books this week take time to find these 5 important features, does every book contain them all? Mrs Hotchkiss is in charge of geography and history, two subjects that lend themselves to new vocabulary, interesting facts and lots of reading! This week we started a new topic “The Artic” we discovered that the Earth is tilted and this tilt causes the North pole to spend time leaning away from the sun - this causes very dark days and freezing temperatures! In PE we used the lesson to explore the Stoneage, we used dance motifs as we became cavemen and gathered berries. Next week we will be hunting one another - (some of us will pretend to be mammoth and sabre tooted tigers)!

On Friday Mrs Hotchkiss listened to her first class council and she would like to thank Grace and Rory for doing a great job! During council we explored what it means to be learned. Learned and Wise are our two new virtues. Understanding these virtues and acting on them is helping us to be more like Jesus everyday.

Judo Club

Today, we have had a demonstration for the judo club that will be taking place on a Friday morning at school. This club is a 5 week club. There is a cost for the club, but Mrs Gregan has agreed to pay half of the fees for each child meaning that the cost for each child will be £14 for the course instead of £28.

There is a limit to how many children can safely attend, however, we will be able to continue the club after half term for those children not able to take part this time. Please complete the form below if you would like your child to take part. We will let you know the groups for the club early next week and then set up a payment on Parent Pay to pay to attend.
