Worship
On this week’s Mark 10 Mission we listened to the Gospel and heard how Jesus was by the Lake. when he saw a fisherman called Simon. Simon had fished all night and caught nothing, but Jesus asked him to throw his nets back into the water. What happened next amazed everyone! Greg helped us understand that Jesus is calling each one of us to follow him. We joined Jesus as we prayed and then sang ‘Follow Me, Follow Me’ with Sr Chiara.
Our learning this week…
English We have finished reading Ted Hughes’ Iron man and had a little treat on Wednesday when we watched the film of the book. We have spent time creating new characters for own adapted version of the story and have made a start writing the opening paragraph.
Our author of the month is Roger Hagreaves…author of the Mr Men books.
Maths -We have continued working with 3 digit number, this week we have used greater than and less than symbols to compare numbers.
Spelling - The spelling focus this week has been prefixes mis and dis - spellings have been sent home in our homework books and are on the homework blog.
Science - We have used an online program to create bar charts to show nutritional data of foods.
History - The Stone Age - Our key question this week was ‘What can we learn about life in the Stone Age from a study of Skara Brae?’ We started our learning with a story and looked at lots of images of how Skara Brae looked and how it looks now. We looked at artists reconstructions and tried to visualise what these settlements probably would have looked like 5,000 years ago. As a class answered the following questions whilst looking at the evidence: How do we know from the clues that the people of Skara Brae...were fisherman, ate pigs and cattle, grew crops, lived in dark houses, were probably peaceful and had time to play games?
