Lancashire Big Sing - Wednesday 5th March

Choir have been extremely busy preparing for their perfomance at Lowther Pavilion on Wednesday 5th March. Last week we were visited by one of the organisers of the event, Katie, who went through the songs with us and helped to perfect those finishing touches!

Important information

The event takes place throughout the day, starting at 9:30am and finishing at approximately 2:15pm. Transport will be arranged from and to school, so children will be dropped off and collected at the usual times. The children will participate in rehearsals in the morning in order to prepare for their big performance to parents/carers at 1pm. This is a ticketed event - I have been told by the organisers that due to capacity of the theatre, there will only be one ticket available per performing child. Once I have been sent the link for purchasing tickets, I will send this straight to you with more information regarding how to secure your place.

What should children bring on the day?

Children should be in their full school uniform, looking smart and ready to perform. They can bring a small backpack with them which will be kept under their seat. In their backpack, they will need a packed lunch and a drink (no fizzy drinks please). They will also need a filled water bottle to keep them hydrated throughout the day. The children can also bring a book to read/small colouring book to keep them occupied if there are any spare moments.

During one of the songs, the children need a junk model instrument. Please can these be created at home and brought with the children in their backpacks. We have discussed these in our choir sessions - the link below includes more ideas. Please don’t spend too much time on these, just something simple out of the recycling bin that can make a sound!

The children also need to bring an object to represent sunshine and happiness. They may choose to bring a pair of sun glasses or a sun hat. They may choose to bring some yellow ribbon to wave or attach a sunshine to a stick. This too needs to be kept in the child’s backpack.

The organisers of the event often take photographs for their social media accounts and publicity pages. Please do let me know if you don’t want your child to be included in these.
