Dear parents,
What a lovely day we had yesterday as we shared photographs of children and families on a seed hunt. We now have a very large collection of seeds in the polytunnel! I’ll keep you updated with the planting!
Alongside this we shared several homework books in which the children had researhed a lynx - they could share what they had learnt. I was very impressed!
Well done!
READING
Please read every night, please make a lovely comment in your child’s reading record to show they are ready to quiz and change at school.
MATHS
The children have been counting in tens like this:
1 ten is ten
2 tens are twenty
3 tens are thirty
4 tens are forty
All the way to 10 tens are one hundred!
Please complete IXL A5 counting in tens. You can also group items in your house into tens and count these (send a photo to share). Your child’s IXL password has been stuck in their homework book if it was handed in - or we have popped it into their reading folder.
SPELLING
We have started our RWI Spelling Units. Today we explored: The “or” sound spelt “a” before l and ll. I have attached the spellings (flashcards) here and all the children have a set of the words in their reading folder too. Please learn for a spelling test next Monday.
PRIVATES DRAWING AND WRITNG
We have had a real treat this week! We had the author Dan Worsley in school - telling us stories and inspiring us to write about pirates! In your homework book draw a detailed picture of your own pirate! Now write three descriptive sentences telling your reader:
What looks like.
What he sound like.
What he smells like!!
Of course you can do more than 3 sentences - writers often get carried away!
Have Fun!!
