The Evil Pea is on the loose!

Our week in Year One has been jam packed with learning. The children continue to impress me everyday with their enthusiasm and love for learning and despite the wet weather and gloomy skies, nothing has stopped us from smiling and shining!

What have we been learning this week?

In Maths this week, the children have been comparing groups of objects using the language of greater than, less than and equal to. They even used the symbols to compare numbers (>, < and =)!

In English the children received a letter from Mr Green, the manager of Sainsbury’s in St Annes. An army of Evil Pea’s was on the loose and the supermarket was in meltdown! The children made jelly traps, just like Supertato, to capture the evil peas. The children were delighted to see that their plan had worked and that they had managed to trap the mishevious peas! They then wrote instructions for other supermarkets who may find themselves victim to an escapea!

In RE we learned how we are spoiling God’s world. The children were shocked to see photos of litter on St Anne’s beach and made eye catching posters to encourage visitors to take care of God’s world and our beautiful beach.

Hip-Hip-Hooray!

Notices

  • Details of this weeks Home Learning can be found on the Home Learning Blog.

  • A kind reminder about earrings. Children should not wear earrings on PE days and earrings worn on non PE days should be simple studs only.

  • Don’t forget to make a Parent’s Day appointment. All of the details can be found on Miss Hornby’s blog.

  • It has come to my attention that a child in Year 1 has got a threadworm infection. Please can you keep an eye on your child and treat them if necessary. Threadworm is contagious, however with all of the extra handwashing we have in place, I am hopeful that this can be contained.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend,

Miss Lane and the Year 1 Team
