On Monday (4th Oct) it will be “World Habitat Day” and fittingly the feast day of St. Francis. The whole of Year 5 will be walking down to the beach on Monday to complete conservation work on the dunes with “The Wildlife Trust”. This week we have dedicated our RE lessons to God’s creation and understanding Climate Change and it’s effects in more detail. The children were so knowledgeable and keen to live differently and to change our “Linear” economy (throw away) to a recycling one! We are in the process of creating an inspirational display for the hall to help other classes. In addition our council time was flooded with Eco- ideas and poetry!
Alongside this work, we have written two sections of our Legends - I have to say that marking them was a joy! Very exciting. We have all tried to include a relative clause and exciting noun/adverbial phrases. In Maths we have plunged into decimals and we really did grab these concepts quickly- well done all. In History we completed some archeological work and in music we have started to record our individual compositions. Madame Jefferson was delighted with our work on the human body and please take a look at Mrs Curtis’ Art gallery to celebrate this week’s Art.
We continued with our KIDS SAFE lessons this week too. - we moved onto - internet and computer safety. We really did focus on PEGi ratings and age certification on films. We reflected on scenarios - times when we might come across images and film that make us feel “worried, scared or sad” - we know that these are our Yucky feeling - really important feelings that are warning us that something is wrong and we need the help of our trusted adults. I have attached the Parent Letter that goes with the session here for you. I number of children shared their experiences and they may want to share with you at home.
Finally in council, we had some very excited female footballers who shared their excitement. They went to Preston North End to watch a match and they took penalties too!!!
