‘Faith is the light that guides you through the darkness.’

The children have returned to school as enthusiastic as ever. We’ve made the most of every minute this week and have immersed ourselves in our new learning. The children have begun learning about where they live; they know that we live in Europe and that England is one of the four countries in the UK. We’ve also learned about the significance of the Gunpowder Plot and how we can stay safe on Bonfire Night.

Our virtues this half term are faith-filled and hopeful; the children are growing to be faith-filled in their beliefs and hopeful for the future. These virtues link beautifully to our RE learning, which is all about Mary our Mother. So far, the children have reflected on how Mary was faith filled and hopeful, when Angel Gabriel told her she was the chosen one.

What have we been learning this week?

In Maths this week, the children have been introduced to the concepts of parts and wholes. The children have learned that a physical object can be split into more than one part and that a whole is when we have all of it.

In English the children have begun their new English story (name yet to be revealed). The children wrote some incredible sentences, describing a forest. They used their senses to do this and came up with loads of creative ideas.

We had our first Kidsafe lesson this week. We learned all about yukky feelings and that this is when we feel sad, worried or scared. Yucky feelings are important because they shouldn’t be ignored and should always be shared with a trusted adult. The children identified who their trusted adults are and know that they can always turn to them for help. Please find this weeks Parent Letter attached for you to read.
