'A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles.'

Year 1 have certainly come back from the half term break full of enthusiasm and ready for a new learning adventure!

This term, we are blasting off into space with an exciting History topic all about Neil Armstrong’s astounding achievement. The children had lots of fun making rockets and have already begun using their enquiry skills to examine sources and discover if mankind has walked on the moon?!

What have we been learning this week?

In Maths we have been thinking about the ‘difference’ between numbers and how we can use this to help us answer subtraction questions.

In RE we have talked about how Jesus chose some of his disciples. We reflected on how we choose our friends and what qualities make a good friend. We are really grateful for our friendships and have been thinking of kind acts that we can do for each other.

Hip-Hip-Hooray!

Reflective Lizzie Ladybird: Congratulations Albert! This week you have been really reflective and have thought about how you can make your writing even better. It has been amazing to watch you how you have been focusing on your letter formation and taking care with your presentation. I could see that you felt really proud of your achievement this week. Well done Albert!

Co-operative Roger Robin: Congratulations Rodnie! You are so considerate of others and are always a thoughtful and encouraging learning partner. It always puts a big smile on my face to see how you support your friends and celebrate their achievements. Thank you for being such a caring friend to everyone in the classroom!

Notices

  • World book day is next Thursday 3rd March and we will be celebrating its 25th anniversary! For this day, we would like to invite the children to dress up as their favourite book characters, it would be great if the children could bring the book also with them, so they can share this with the rest of the class.

  • A polite reminder that on Friday 25th March you are invited to come into school to look at the children’s learning in their books. If you would like to come in, please book this through the ‘Response to Learning Invitation’ button which can be found on Miss Hornby’s blog from last week.

  • As always, if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email me s.hartley@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk

    Have a wonderful weekend,
