“The world is but a canvas to the imagination.”

This week, Year 1 have really enjoying reading ‘The Caveman Next Door’. They thought about the main character Ogg and how it might have felt for him to be in a strange new world. Being the kind, caring and thoughtful class that they are, Year 1 decided to help Ogg by sharing some advice that might help him on his way. They thought the first thing that would really help Ogg would be to tell him how to make friends. In Year 1 we are always respectful and compassionate Co-operative Roger Robins, so we knew exactly how to help Ogg make friends!

We began to write Ogg’s story and we had great fun being creative, making up actions and using our fantastic expression and story telling voices to help up re-tell the story and remember the sentences.

Our brains have grown so much this week and I think you are going to be very proud of our writing, just like we are!

What have we been learning this week?

In Maths, we have begun to explore the concept of division by sharing amounts into equal groups. Using objects such as counters, we began with an amount and shared it equally between 2, 3 or 4 groups. We had lots of fun exploring this concept with practical activities and through our investigations we began to think about what it means when an amount can’t be shared equally.

In RE, we reflected on how Peter felt when he hid in the Upper Room and how it made him feel when Jesus appeared. We thought about times when we have felt shocked or surprised and created some detailed pictures to show the expression.

Hip-Hip-Hooray!
