Children have returned to school rested and enthusiastic about their learning! In RE this week, we thought about each of the 4 prophets from the Old Testament that we have studied and what we can learn about our relationship with God. In our worships we have been thinking about choosing love and showing how we value others by saying and doing kind things.
In maths, children have completed their unit on column subtraction. We have also started ‘Mastering number in Year 4’ which invovles 10 minutes per day to work on our grasp of multiplication concepts.
We have continued our novel ‘Charlotte’s Web’ which has seen us writing descriptive ‘extended noun phrases’ about characters and objects in the book. Children ranked the characters in order from kindest to unkindest and needed to justify their reasons by giving examples from the text.
We have begun our History topic on the Egyptians and children gathered clues to find out more about them. They learned the meaning of Bc and AD and how humans moved from being hunter-gatherers, to forming the first civilisations. They figured out by looking at Egypt on google Earth why the people may have settled in such a desert like place - all thanks to the Nile River!
Here are some pictures of us at work, at prayer and at play.
Let’s Celebrate!
This week, we have two Sadie Spiders who have shown consistent perseverance and determination in all learning for a number of weeks now. They are also learning partners! Well done to William and Sean! What cracking learners you are!

Snacks - Children will eat their snacks inside class in the morning or will be seated on the picnic benches to eat. Please can we remind everyone that snacks need to be healthy and that we are a nut free school. Below is some snack guidance - some lovely ideas!
Design technology - book cover
Children are making a cover for a book in DT. Please could they bring in their favourite book to design the cover for it on Tuesday? Not too big though - maybe novel sized.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Lyons, Miss Hennessey, Mrs Carter and Mrs Grey
