It has been a very exciting and reflective week in Year 4! On Monday, we shared the gospel reading when Jesus first called his disciples. As Jesus called all of us by name to follow Him, children were tasked with finding out the meaning of their own name and making a little fish to go in the entrance. Their word of the week is ‘Follow’ and they have been trying hard to follow the path of Jesus in their words and actions.
This week we have got stuck into the World of Romeo and Juliet and have started feuding! We have attended the Capulet Ball where the fated lovers first meet and have created the scenes as a class. Children are loving this active way of learning.
On Tuesday, we had our amazing trip to UCLAN to study Cosmetic Chemistry. Children found out all about acids, alkalis and reactions. They made bath bombs and lip balms, thinking about changes from liquids to solids. They also watched a demonstration of dry ice turning straight to a gas and liquid nitrogen making a marshmallow so brittle that it could be smashed with a hammer!
Added to this was column addition and subtraction with 4 digit numbers in maths and finding out where in England Anglo-Saxons settled in History. What a cracking week of learning!
Let’s Celebrate!
This week, two Bobby Bee certificates are awarded to Seth and Tommy - you are buzzing with excitement in lessons and especially in Shakespeare where you are great at getting in role instantly! Also a Kiki Chameleon certificate is awarded to Beth for being so creative in all you do - especially your Shakespeare acting!

Wednesday 20th March Shakespeare Playmaking festival at Hodgson High School. All children from Year 4 will be performing scenes from ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ with other local schools. Children will get a coach in the morning and rehearse there all day. They then need to be picked up from Hodgson at 3:00 for an early tea and brought back at 5:00 to Hodgson ready for their performance at 5:30-6:45. I thought I would give you early notice of this. As it stands there may only be space in the Hodgson hall for one paying adult. Tickets are not yet available.
Enjoy your weekend
