Year 1 - Friday 3rd July Home Learning Challenges

Good morning Year 1! We have made it to another week of wonderful learning. Well done everyone, you are all such enthusiastic learners. Next week on the blog it is going to be a little bit different. The amazing Miss Woodend, is going to be taking over and getting to know you all. She will be your Year 2 teacher next year and she is so excited to introduce herself properly. She will be setting lots of lovely learning for you to do! I will then be back the following week for our final week in year 1! We are going to have a joyful last week together and celebrate all of the brilliant learning we have done this year and reflect on the time we have spent together.

Phonics

Today I would like you to do the lesson Read and Hold a Sentence (2), by following the link to the YouTube channel above.

Use the links below to continue practising your speedy words and for those who are whizzing through them, can you spell them? Go on, have a go!

Reading

Remember to read everyday, just like we do at school. I would love you to read for at least 20 minutes each day, be that a physical book or an ebook on Epic/Accelerated Reader. If your book has an option to quiz on AR or Epic, please remember to do so.

English

With an adult, using one of the weblinks (you can choose), follow the instructions on how to make a rocket.

Once your rocket is complete, talk about how you made it using sequencing words such as: first, next, then, finally and doing words such as cut, stick, glue, tape, put etc. Remember to retell the instructions in the correct order!

Write down your instructions in full sentences for someone else to follow. Make sure they are in the correct order using the words discussed previously. Include a ‘what you need’ section at the top of the page and make sure you number each instruction. You could add diagrams or even video yourself making the rocket to go with your instructions too!

Check for capital letters and full stops. Read through the instructions to check that they make sense before giving them to someone to follow.

Maths

I am not setting you any new maths learning today. Enjoy making your rocket!

Have a brilliant day!
