What a lovely week in Year 4! On Monday, we had our Gym Jam Jog bright and early! Thank you all for your generous sponsorship. It was such a great community event for a truly deserved cause. On Tuesday we ventured to Tatton Hall Park for another adventure! Tatton is an old Anglo-Saxon settlement and we were greeted by an Anglo-Saxon lady who told us we had not paid our Danegeld and we may be attacked by those Vicious Vikings! To prepare, children learned how to make a shield wall and found out about weapons. We also carried out daily village chores such as weaving, threshing and grinding. Not to fear, the Danegeld was paid so no Viking attack - much to our brave children’s disappointment!
In English this week, we have been reading and learning to write limericks based on our novel, the Firework-Makers daughter. Children were challenged to quiz on the book too and did really well.
Maths - we have finished our fractions for now. This week we have learned about division with remainders and now we are learning about translation of shapes and co-ordinates on a grid.
In other news, we have learned about different job sectors in Geography and sorted different occpations under the different headings. We have solved monetary problems involving shopping in French with euros.
Conversation starters
The children have been tasked with thinking about what it means to be a STAR at Our Lady Star of the Sea School. Discuss together what makes our school so special? How can we behave so that we all represent our motto ‘We are precious in Your eyes?’
Let’s Celebrate!
This week we have 2 creative Kiki Chameleon/Roger Robin certificates. One goes to Logan. You have been so supportive this week Logan and you have written some amazing and amusing limericks!
The other goes to Beth. It was lovely to watch you creating such brilliant limericks this week Beth. Your learning has been fantastic and you have been really supportive when others need you.

This week our butterfly goes to Gus for just doing things without making a fuss - tidying up when it was not your mess.
