‘We rise by lifting others.’

It has busy week in Reception, full of curiosity and fun! This morning Miss Hornby reminded us that in a world where we can be anything we should be kind. We certainly listened to the message today and have ended our week with a fantastic Friday full of kindness, our mission next week will be to keep this up! It was lovely to hear the children complimenting each others art work whilst painting spring flowers with Mrs Curtis today.

We enjoyed our trip to Africa so much that we decided to stay for an extra week. We have been exploring the different animals that live in Africa and loved going on safari! We took full advantage of the lovely sunshine and did some drawing outside. I think you’ll agree the pictures are brilliant with such well thought out detail in the faces! Mrs Malley shared a brilliant story with us, ‘Never play music right next to the zoo’ (Click button for story). We spotted some animals we had seen on safari.

In Read Write Inc this week we have learnt two new sounds ‘oo’ and ‘oo’. We have continued to work in smaller groups during RWI to focus our learning and grow our brains. We have been using our ‘Fred fingers’ to write words nd sentences!

During Maths this week, we visited the stampoline park with the Numberblocks. We have been investigating the different parts that can make the same whole, using the sentence… ___ and ___ make 5 altogether to help us. We were fantastic at using spatial language to describe the shapes!

In our PE lessons we have been improving our rolling skills over this half term, the children are doing brilliantly. Maybe you could try this together at home. Next week we will be working on our letter formation of the ‘long ladder letters’ l, i, u, t and y. Next week I will send home an activity to do together. We will be making our own dough disco routine to warm our finger muscles up with playdough before writing.
