'If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.' - Vincent Van Gogh

The only word I can use to describe this week is joyous! With Year 6 hard at work in the hall for their SATs it meant we all needed to be as quiet as mice! We teamed up with Nursery and had three days of learning on the field. We had so much more space than usually so used the opportunity for lots of physical development, singing songs with Colette on her guitar and Read Write Inc groups outside…it was so much fun.

Just when we thought the week couldn’t get any better, Thursday came around and it was time for our trip. Excitement levels were through the roof as the children came into school, we got into our groups and boarded the coach to Brockholes. All the adults were bursting with pride with how the children behaved and their enthusiasm, they were brilliant representatives for our school.

Our guide for the day was Emma, she shared the story of the Gruffalo with us and we went on a hunt to find at the characters in the woodland. Then we created some potions with some very interesting ingredients! After a lunch pit stop our tummies were full up and ready for our afternoon minibeast adventure. We found slugs, snails, millipedes, beetles to name a few, our guide Emma even found a newt and a fresh mole hill which were so interesting to look at.

We are really grateful to our special helpers for the day, Mrs Krol and Mrs Lavelle who helped our day run smoothly, thank you for giving up your time.

We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures from our brilliant adventure and very first school trip. Well done Reception we are extremely proud of you!

Let’s Celebrate

Henry is an Enthusiastic Bobby Bee - For being a bundle of enthusiasm on our school trip. You lead your team to find some fantastic minibeasts, used your listening ears well and kept us entertained with some singing on the way home. Well done Henry!

Bonnie is a Determined Sadie Spider - For taking on the challenge of overarm throwing with determination and trying again when it was tricky at first. You listened carefully to the steps and improved each time. You set a fantastic example to others. Well done Bonnie!

Important Notices

Just a little reminder that on June 8th we are celebrating in style with a Red White and Blue Day. At lunch time we will enjoy a whole school picnic outside on the field (let’s pray for a sunny day!). Jacqui, our school cook, has ordered special lunchboxes which will be filled with a picnic feast. If your child already has school lunches, you need to do nothing. However, if your child normally brings their own packed lunch, you can order a special picnic box by pressing here and completing a form. This must be paid for in advance on ParentPay at a cost of £2.35. Forms need to be completed by 8pm on Friday 13th May.

Plessington own clothes next Friday (20th) - Throughout the whole school Plessington team have managed to collect the most house points this half term. To celebrate they are invited to wear their own clothes preferable something red!

Have a restful weekend and recharge those batteries for our final week of the half term,

The Reception Team
