Merry Christmas!

The past week has been jam packed with history learning, Christmas festivities and excitement! We have been doing History all week and the children have been so enthusiastic. We started off the week learning about the Royal Family tree and what the word ‘monarch’ means. We then talked about what ‘significant’ means and what the significant events have been in Queen Elizabeth II’s life.

Following on from this, we learned all about what happens at the coronation of a monarch. After watching some clips of the real thing, we thought we should have a go ourselves! Esther was a fabulous Queen Elizabeth II and Riley was a very professional Archbishop of Canterbury. The children then did some AMAZING independent writing on what happened at the coronation. I have attached the photos below, please ask your child to tell you what is happening in each photo.

In the spirit of Christmas, we learned about how the Queen makes a speech each Christmas. The children then got into character and wrote their own ‘Queen’s speech’. We then finished off our learning on the Royal Family, by making comparisons with Queen Victoria. We talked about how Prince Albert introduced the Christmas tree to the UK and compared how Christmas trees were decorated then and now.

The children had a super time at the Christmas party on Thursday and were SO excited to when Father Christmas himself, payed them a special visit. It was so heart warming to see the children dancing their socks off and being so honest during pass the parcel. Apologies, that there are not more photos, we took lots but the children’s fantastic dancing has made them very blurry.

Class Tiger

Over Christmas the Tiger will be visiting his family and sharing Christmas with them. Although, the Tiger is very excited because on Christmas Eve he will be on the television!
