It feels as if we have never been away. Life at Our Lady’s school is so fast paced and exciting, we squeeze every drop of our day into our learning, and we have only been back two weeks.
In Art…
Reception showed me just how far they have come with their drawing from September as they copied my pictures. They took such care over the details, how many petals did the flower have, how tall was the door? After Art, Barbara brought the children some ice spheres, Wow did we have fun with them? Rolling, touching, smelling and trying to break them. We knew the ice was frozen water and that they would melt in the sun, so we played until they did.
Year One ventured outside in the school gardens. We wore our coats and hats and created wonderful natural art outside. Using clay as the glue and leaves, twigs and little stones we made patterns, faces and animals. These will just wash away with the rain.
Year Two had enormous fun in their 3D lesson (Thank you for all the tubes). We learned how to blow into a didgeridoo, what a noise we made collectively! We then painted our tubes in the Aboriginal style. These are now dry and will be coming home on Friday afternoon, I know the children can not wait to play them for you. (sorry!)
Year Three tried different patterns printing with clay. We rolled them into different shapes and made indentations before using printing ink to lightly coat the clay before making a mark on paper. These looked fantastic and have already gone home.
Year Four continued with their Design Technology on Pneumatics. Using syringes and tubing we transferred pressurised air back and forth. We made a prototype mini toy, moving the monster in and out of the cave using a simple pneumatic system. Next week we start our working tipper trucks. (Thank you for all the shoe boxes).
Year Five designed their Alberto Giacometti inspired figure and created the skeleton. Using wire, we made the body and limbs, we added masking tape muscle. Next week we will add a mod-roc skin and a head.
Year six had great fun making a sculpture inspired by the artist Henry Moore in clay. We had student teachers visit us, who joined our lessons and created alongside us. Great ambassadors year six.
Art Club, group three met for their second week. KS1 made some fantastic Kandinsky inspired circle art and KS2 used watercolour pencils to make a lovely scene with a silhouette of their choice.
Have a wonderful, restful weekend, who knows what week three will bring!
God bless.
