THIS WEEK WE ARE USING COMPUTER BASED LEARNING.
This week’s homework should be completed by next Thursday please. Many thanks.
Reading:
Read at home every day. You can quiz during school time when a book has been completed. Please remember that you should all be selecting books from the class library within your ZPD to read at home and at school. You may also choose to read extra books from home but these should be within your ZPD please.
(Parents: Don’t forget you can check on your child’s progress on Accelerated Reader - this will let you know which books they have read and quizzed on and also their progress towards their reading target.)
Maths:
IXL maths using the IXL website. Please complete any of the units G (addition) How many of these units can you complete?
Keep playing the number bonds game on mathplayground to practise your number bonds.
https://www.mathplayground.com/number_bonds_20.html
Play Save the Whale. Finding the number bonds—how fast can you be?
Spellings:
Please learn the spellings below ready for a spelling quiz in class next week.
disappear opposite perhaps forwards tunnel parcel cancel squirrel
The first 4 spellings are high frequency words. The next 4 all have the -el spelling pattern. Can you say put you spellings into a sentence? Thank you.
Don’t forget to find different activities from “Fun Ways to Learn your Spellings” sheet to help your child to learn their spellings.
The children should be able to write the spellings independently - this will need to be written clearly and correctly during the spelling quiz.
Computing:
For the last 2 computing lessons, one of the activities has been working on creating a story of the fable ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’. The children have worked really hard on them and now they just need finishing off please.
Step 1—Open your work by accessing your 2dos and finding the one called ‘2Create a story’ and then pressing the ‘Continue work’ button.
Step 2—Finish off the remaining pages of your story by
· Adding drawings or clip art images for pictures.
· Writing your sentences underneath.
· Adding Sprites using the dragon button at the top—can you add animation and sound to them using the red cross buttons?
· Adding buttons to go on to the next page using the button at the top with the purple background and the white links.
· Step 3—When complete save it and press the hand in button which will allow me to mark it.
Note—if you struggle to find it on their 2do list it will be because your child has accidentally handed their work in before finishing it. Follow this step to open your child’s work.
Find the 2do called 2create a story (it may be at the bottom of their 2do list) and press ‘Open work’, this will then allow them to continue. Follow the steps then as above.
