Art News… Week Three
With everyone having to stay at home again, we are very grateful that school is still open. This is our school family and we at least have the normality (a new normality) of our days full of laughter and safe learning.
In Art…
Year one looked at the artist Richard Long and his natural art forms in the shape of circles. We watched a lovely video on circles and used printed pictures of shells to cut out and create a shell circle in our sketch books.
Year two decorated their Didgeridoo. After watching a video on how to play it, we used paints and cotton buds to make patterns all over the tube. Due to covid restrictions we were unable to practice in school but I am sure the children will soon be tooting away at home as the instruments will be coming home tonight (sorry).
Year three had fun creating a collage tree in the style of Paul Klee, these will be used as part of our Christmas cards in the next few weeks.
Year four painted with a really thin brush and watery paint over the top of the prepared surfaces from last session. We had to have a delicate, steady hand as we tried to create tiny, thin linear markings. These look great and will be coming home tonight.
Year five Added the yellow third to their Reduction Block Printing, by carving only what we had drawn in yellow and using yellow paint and a roller to print the design. Next week we will add the red third over the top of the yellow as the next step in our design.
Year six used the dyed fabric from last session and their research from the architect Norman Foster, to draw an inspired design based on the triangular structures. These were then filled with different line work. Drawing on fabric is tricky but even more so with a marker pen. Great job year six.
The Home Gallery has some more art added this week, if you have been Creative and would like to share it with me and the school send me a photo or two, to r.curtis@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk , I look forward to seeing your talents.
Have a wonderful weekend, let’s do it all again next week ;-)
Stay safe
God Bless
Mrs Curtis
