“Who will help me make the bread?”

It was great to welcome everyone back on Monday. The children came back ready and raring to grow their brains, they have been enthusiastic sponges all week!

We have had a busy week of learning and growing our brains.

In RE we talked about the families we belong to, our family at home, our class family, our school family, our community family. We thought about how God made us all to be part of one special family.

This week during Read Write Inc (RWI) lessons we have been recapping all the sounds we have learnt so far. We have been listening out for initial sounds, reading words from left to right using Fred talk to sound out the words, some children thought of sentences that used ‘I’ and ‘the’ two of our tricky red words. We were very excited when we realized we could read and try to write all the characters name from our story using the sounds we have learnt so far…hen, dog, cat, duck and pig!

We have been counting counting counting anything and everything this week in Maths. Claps, fingers, cubes, jumps, balls, pencils and leaves…hopefully you can enjoy doing this at home too!

We have been reading and learning the story of the Little Red Hen, hopefully your child will be able to share this with you at home. We have made a video to help you understand our story map, look out for our slightly different ending! We’ve enjoyed roleplaying the story outside and with our story spoons. We look forward to making bread next week, just like the Little Red Hen.

Please send a pair of wellies into school and a peg with your child’s name on so we can store them easily. If possible the wellies should stay in school all week, we could send them home at the weekend, but please let Miss Lavelle know if this is needed.
