It was great to welcome everyone back on Monday. The children came back ready and raring to grow their brains, they have been enthusiastic sponges all week!
We have had a busy week of learning and growing our brains.
In RE we talked about the families we belong to, our family at home, our class family, our school family, our community family. We thought about how God made us all to be part of one special family.
This week during Read Write Inc (RWI) lessons we have been recapping all the sounds we have learnt so far. We have been listening out for initial sounds, reading words from left to right using Fred talk to sound out the words, some children thought of sentences that used ‘I’ and ‘the’ two of our tricky red words. We were very excited when we realized we could read and try to write all the characters name from our story using the sounds we have learnt so far…hen, dog, cat, duck and pig!
We have been counting counting counting anything and everything this week in Maths. Claps, fingers, cubes, jumps, balls, pencils and leaves…hopefully you can enjoy doing this at home too!
We have been reading and learning the story of the Little Red Hen, hopefully your child will be able to share this with you at home. We have made a video to help you understand our story map, look out for our slightly different ending! We’ve enjoyed roleplaying the story outside and with our story spoons. We look forward to making bread next week, just like the Little Red Hen.
Let’s Celebrate
Mia-Grace is a Co-operative Rodger Robin - For being a great team player in our class and listening to others in a caring way. We have been impressed with how sensibly you have tidied up without being asked and set a really good example to others. Well done Mia –Grace!
Myles is a Focused Cooper Crab - For concentrating really well during Read Write Inc. We are so impressed with your determination to use the new skills you have learnt to focus and finish a task without getting distracted. Well done Myles!
Important Notices
Wellies - During lunchtime play we go on the field, as the weather changes we want to keep feet as dry and warm as possible. Please send a pair of wellies into school and a peg with your child’s name on so we can store them easily. If possible the wellies should stay in school all week, we could send them home at the weekend, but please let Miss Lavelle know if this is needed.
Home-school Partnership Agreement - Please click on the link if you still need to complete the form, thank you to those who have already completed it.
Reporting an illness - The office is very busy in the morning with numerous phone calls. To speed up the process of reporting your child's illness it can now be done via our school website. This form can now be found on the Discover page, click on Attendance and there is a button at the bottom which says REPORTING AN ILLNESS.
Homework - This week homework can be found in yellow homework books please return this by Wednesday 11th November.
Reading books - Please send your child’s reading book and diary to school each day, we will read with each child throughout the week and change their book.
Have a lovely weekend,
