What a beautiful image, it is so peaceful isn’t it?
Welcome to another week of home learning, what are you looking forward to learning about? Don’t forget to keep your eye on the PE challenges page and send us videos or photographs of your great work.
Reading
Which book has been your favourite from your time at home? I have heard that some of you are reading David Walliams’, JK Rowling’s and Julia Donaldson’s books. I love The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson, it has got to be one of my favourite children’s stories. Keep up the excellent work with your reading and make time to quiz, so we can celebrate with you. Well done to Lexi for meeting her reading target, good girl.
Maths
Here are the answers to the maths from Friday.
Here is today’s learning, enjoy.
English
By now you should have finished writing your version of the House Haunting story, so today we would like you to celebrate your successes and make any improvements. Look at one chapter at a time and break up this English challenge with your maths and geography learning. Keep coming back to the next chapter throughout the day.
Follow these steps to help you.
Step 1—read the chapter aloud.
Step 2—give yourselves two stars (two things you did well) and a wish (something you could make even better).
Here are some of the areas you may want to celebrate or improve.
· Your story makes sense
· Capital letters—beginning of sentences and for names.
· Full stops
· Inverted commas “ ”
· Powerful verbs
· Interesting description
· Leaving the reader on a cliff hanger, wanting to read more
· Neat, joined handwriting
· Clear finger spaces
· Used ? , or ! where necessary
Step 3—Ask your grown up to give you two stars and a wish.
Step 4—Give yourself a pat on the back and a well done for all the things you have done well.
Step 5—Now have a go with a different colour of pen or pencil at making your work even better (like we do at school) by working on the wish you and your grown up thought of.
By the end of the day today all 5 chapters of your story will be celebrated and improved. You’ll be like a real author!
Spellings
This weeks spellings are accidentally, business, calendar, centre, century and consider. I will be asking you to spend a chunk of time tomorrow practising them.
