The RSC Playmaking Digital Festival Goes Live!!!

Dear Year 5 and the whole community, as you already know Our Lady’s is a Royal Shakespeare Associate School. This means we work together with the RSC, the Grand Theatre Blackpool and several other schools in the Blackpool Hub. Over the past four years we have studied Shakespeare’s plays. This year Year 5 studied The Merchant of Venice and The Taming of the Shrew - performing the latter at The Grand in March. Two members of the class were suppose to perform this summer at Stratford with all the associate schools from across the country. Sadly this was not to be. However, the RSC asked the children to perform speeches from the Taming of the Shrew for a digital celebration. The children in Year 5 performed at home and sent their work to Mrs Hotchkiss. In turn she sent these varied performances to the RSC. Today the 2020 Digital Playmaking Festival has now gone live. Children from 261 schools took part - no less than five members of our Year 5 class and one Year 1 child feature in the film - in fact one of our children opens the film!!
