Art news… Autumn 2… Week 1
Welcome back after our half term break. Everyone has ran back to school with a spring in their step and a smile from ear to ear.
In Art…
Reception used their fingers to mix primary colours together to see what colours they could create. A little hesitant to start with as the paint was cold and sticky, but as soon as they were brave, there was no stopping them. We had the secondary colours and a range of browns in beatufil swirls, these are now displayed outside the staffroom for all to see.
Year one started their Collage topic by looking at the work of Andy Goldsworthy and how he created art from nature. As it was wet and the leaves were soggy, we used a printed sheet to practise our cutting skills and created lines of leaves in his style.
Year two started their 3D topic and ere very excited to discover they would ber making their own Didgeridoo next week. We learned about Aboringinal art and where this is from and who is creating this. We had great conversation about Australia and the Aboriginal people. We used paint and cotton buds to recreate a picture in theris style.
Year three started their Collage topic and looked at the painting ‘Highways and Byways’ by Paul Klee. We thought that the title was outdated and came up with a more up to date version, such as Motorways and A roads. We used coloured paper and created our own version of this in Collage.
Year four started their Painting topic by sticking down different recycled papers before painting onto them with two primary colours, neatness and a steady has was nned as we discovered what was goof for painting and why and those that were not so good. Next week we will overpaint onto the same surfaces but with thin maekings to test again what ones are suitable and not! *Please ensure all the children have an old tshirt in school for their art lessons, ( an old adult tshirt is best) this will save uniforms gettin dirty as we are painting and not many children had an art shirt in school. Thank you for your continued support.
Year five have started their Printmaking topic and designed their Reduction Block Prints. These take three session to complete as we layer the prints on top of each other, first with yellow, then red and finally blue to reveal the ful print. Next week we start with our yello third.
Year six started their Textiles topic as we looked at the arhitect Norma Foster and his iconic buidings and bridges. We drew these structures ready for next week. While this was happening, four children at a time came over to the dying table to paint with Brusho fabric paint onto white cotton. We will draw on these next week with the designs we have made from our sketches today.
Art Club has started for the next five weeks for Group Two and we made Pom Pom Poppers.
Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy those bonfires and firework displays. Stay safe.
God bless
Mrs Curtis
