It has been really magical in school this week as lights have been lit, the crib has been made and the tree has been decorated. This is my favourite time of year to be in school. We have been busy learning our lines for the Christmas film. Next Wednesday, we will be walking down to church to share an Advent Mass with our parish. Afterwards, we will be staying behind to film our songs and spoken words. Please keep learning these at home. The children will need to be in full school uniform on Wednesday (just like photograph day) for filming purposes.
Monday is the final day for the Afghan refugee collection. I am excited to see what we have managed to collect and to take them to some families who really need our support at this time. I will share with you next week what we have collated.
Today has been the first of our fundraising days and already, we have collected £405! If you haven’t been on Parent Pay and contributed, please do. We would love to send these special children some wonderful gifts this year. Don’t forget that next Friday, December 10th – it is a Christmas themed clothes day; a jumper, a t-shirt or simply Christmas colours. Judging by the socks I have seen today, I cannot wait to see the Christmas attire next week.
Where has our learning taken us this week?
I know I say this a lot, but I cannot believe just how much work we have managed to complete this term already. The pace of learning is fast and exciting - I congratulate the children on their desire to make progress and their enthusiasm for learning. Being in class is absolutely essential. Thank you all for your support with this.
English - We have started to write our Outcome 1 biographies on Henry VIII. There is so much to know about this man that writing a biography on him seemed like the obvious choice. We have really enjoyed researching these fascinating people and bringing them to life through our writing.
Maths - Multiplying fractions - the children have whizzed through this!
History - The children have written persuasive letters from Henry to Pope Clement persuading him to let him divorce Catherine. The level of vocabulary in their writing is brilliant!
RE - The impact of the actions of Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King. What advice would they give today?
PE - Slap stick comedy dance - Laugh A Minute and the principles of invasion games in outdoor PE.
Leading Learners
Well done to Victor, Faye and Lorna-Jane this week.
Victor, you are such a curious learner! Each week you immerse yourself into new knowledge with the aim to understand it so much deeper. Your history work this week has been brilliant.
Faye, your subtle ways and acts of kindness never go unnoticed. This week you have been the kindest learning partner and most compassionate friend to your classmates.
Lorna-Jane, you are so reflective in every aspect of school life. Thank you for your contributions to class discussions and your willingness to challenge when things are not right.
