ENGLISH Reading- Book Review

As we reach the end of this half term it is time to reflect on the books we have read since Easter. Have we reached that target? Can we do it before half term?

In PURPLE MASH you will find a book review in your 2do!

Before you complete it have a look at the review attached. Please notice how it is written. Think PALS - Purpose (to inspire others)

Audience (your class mates)

Language (words used - persuasive)

Style/structure - informal

We will post these into a shared space on Purple Mash so everyone can read them and use them as recommendations!

Maths

We have had a challenging week in maths- comparing fractions. Remember the following children:

When the denominators are the same the greater the numerator the greater the fraction

When the numerators are the same the greater the denominator the smaller the fraction

Please complete S6, S7, S8 on your IXL!

Science

This week Mrs Nel taught the class all about the phrases of the moon! I usually ask the children to keep a moon calender but as we are studying it in the summer this may prove a little difficult. Instead I would like the children to research the first moon landing! There is a link below to show you real footage of the 1969 landing (all form the viewpoint of the astronauts). In your Purple Mash 2do’s there is a moon landing task! Follow the prompts they are there to help you plan and organize your work.

Spelling revisited

Let’s revise OUGH! spelling pattern. Using rhyme really helps us to spell these tricky words. Firstly watch the PowerPoint (pretend you are the teacher) as you read each word - think about other words that rhyme with it. Once you have done that pop into purple mash and collect these words on the grid. Think carefully about how they are pronounced!

Have fun!
