Week 6… Half Term
We have made it to another break, we have stayed within the rules, looked after one another and kept us all safe. We have worked hard, had fun and enjoyed our school family. Now it is time to rest and recharge.
In Art…
Year one had great fun finger painting and mixing primary colours on their fingers to create secondary colours. We then made a beautiful printed rainbow, mixing our own colours.
Year two used foam press print blocks to work in pairs to create a wallpaper pattern, they had to be the same as they had to share the blocks to make two coloured pattern wallpaper samples.
Year three finished their t shirts, by drawing on the back with permanent marker pens, using either their initial or age number. We filled this with things that are important to us and represent our personalities. Due to the bank holiday, I have run out of Mondays, so Miss Woodrow kindly took over our fashion show. She filmed all the children modelling their completed t shirt and has made a lovely film, do go over to the year three class page to watch our aspiring models strut their stuff.
Year four created lovely monoprints by rolling on the paint onto the press block and gently scraping the paint away to make pictures when printed.
Year five had one hour to put everything they knew about cross stitch into practice as they all made a beautifully sewn coaster. These have now been backed onto card and will be coming home this week.
Year six used batik equipment in their session and using hot, melted wax drew onto cotton their design of a leaf. After half term we will paint them using special dye and remove the wax. We also brushed up on our watercolour skills and practised painting detailed leaves in preparation.
* I have set each class a half term challenge, as we could not do Food Technology this half term due to the pandemic, I would like everyone to do one of the recipes we would have done in school , at home. A paper copy of the ingredients and instructions have come home (please look in school bags) and each recipe is available on the class art page. I would like a photo or two of you in action, please send the photos to me at r.curtis@ourladystarofthesea.lancs.sch.uk I look forward to seeing what you do.
Have a wonderful break, two whole weeks! Stay safe.
God bless
Mrs Curtis
