The scene is set, the lights are on and the costumes are ready! This week, our main priority is that we are ready to bring our play to life next Tuesday. Unlike other years, we only have one shot at this - to get it just right. I have never put a play together in just 3 weeks, usually we have 5! But, the commitment from the children to learn their lines, practise the singing and dancing and to help each other out has made this task really enjoyable. We have had so much fun!
Over the weekend, I have asked the children to go over their lines and songs. We need to be able to hear every word. They are working on their diction, slowing their lines down and pausing in between each character - as well as packing in emotion. Not much to ask eh!
We cannot wait to show you what we have put together.
Our final two weeks…
We are praying every day that we make it through the final two weeks of the year without our bubble bursting. There are so many schools going down at the moment, we really do not want to be one of them. The children have assured me that they are doing their very best to keep safe at home and reduce chances. We have done amazing this year…let’s continue for the final two weeks.
Next week
Monday and Tuesday will be all about the play. On Monday, Miss Hornby will be watching the dress rehearsal (she is a tough critic) before we film on Tuesday morning. The rest of the week will be spent fully in lessons and completing transition tasks for high schools. We still have some of the curriculum to complete.
Final week
Thank you to everyone who completed the form for the Leaver’s Mass. We can now put a map together of the church and where everyone will be sat.
Wednesday 14th July 2021 - 11am Leavers’ Mass in church
Thursday 15th July 2021 - Year 6 Talent Show & The Wizard of Oz Premier
Friday 16th July 2021 - Final day in school. The children need to be in full school uniform. We like them to leave Our Ladys as smart as when they arrived on their very first day. The children can bring in with them a plain white school polo t-shirt that can be signed by their class mates. This cannot be the one that they are wearing, an additional one.
There will be a few more things in the final week but I will update you on those next Friday.
Celebrating Learning
This week I have asked all of the children to present a learning certificate to their partner. They have been watching them all week and have decided which learning character they best suit.
Ask your child which certificate they have been awarded!
Have a wonderful weekend with your family.
