Art News… Week Five
Can You beleive we have only one week left of our school year, it’s been a crazy year but together as a school family, with love, faith and a lot of hard work, we have got there.
In Art…
Year one used all the work from the past few weeks to assemble a beautiful dream catcher. These have now gone home to adorn the windows of many bedrooms, for many dreams to be caught.
Year two were given a challenge this week, what collage could they make using just a single sheet of newspaper? Wow, year two, you took my challenge and ran with it, sharks, flowers, dogs, footballers to name just a few. Our scissor skills have come on so much this year.
Year three painted their balloon, gummed paper bowl, using primary colours and white and black. These were on display in school and gathered lots of attention before going home.
Year four looked at the work of artist Andy warhol, in particular, his Campbells soup can. This was a popular lunchtime meal in the 70’s but perhaps a little dated now. We thought of what was popular now and created a collage to show this. But in true Warhol Pop Art style, we then had to remake the same collage but in unrealistic colours. These looked fabulous if not a little strange.
Year five had one hour to make their Dale Devereux Barker inspired ‘My Week’ collage. Using their plans from last week and printed template, pressure was on. These look amazing and are now displayed on the walls of the Create room for all to admire.
Year six looked at the work of Gustav Klimt and discussed how decadent and luxurious they were. Using a photo of themselves and black paper, gold and siver pencils, could we create a beautiful evening dress or suit for ourselves in theis style.
All art tshirts will be coming home this week. Please wash them and keep them safe for September, as we will be keeping to using our own tshirt as it has worked very well, the children taking resposibilty for their own clothing. Many thanks for your continued support.
This weekend is a rather special one, the children are excited, the staff are excited, the whole country are excited. Will football really be coming home? Let’s hope so. Have a great weekend. Stay safe.
God bless
Mrs Curtis
