"Then God saw everything that he had made and indeed it was good" Genesis 1

Without a doubt the class council today was a highlight. I would like to thank you to all the children who stood. It is a brave and courageous thing to do. We will be announcing the children with the most votes on Monday!

Earlier in the day, we listened to the house captain speeches filmed by our new Year 6 and realized how close Year 6 is for us too. Before we reach this mile stone we have a lot of curriculum to cover and we have made a great start! In maths we have explored our place value using counters and dice. In English we have explored Legends and what makes a story a Legend. We found out that there was some cross over from fairytales and modern comics. We have begun to study the Minotaur who will appear in our history lesson again next week.

On Tuesday we nearly died in the heat of the sun as we joined Mr Nay for our Rugby lesson and of course we successfully visited the swimming pool! The children were so excited! Everything was exciting from the coach to the changing rooms, to the swimming to the snack at the end!! It reminded us all that the children haven’t had any opportunities to visit places beyond school for too long and it was great to learn in a different environment. All the children have been assessed by Graham and Thomas our swimming teachers and we are now ready to swim for the full hour.

Finally, we have studied the difference between religious truth and scientific truth - understanding this has enabled us to understand what Genesis tells us about how much God loves us and wants us to care for each other and his world. This was followed by an RHE lesson in which we practiced listening to others and then talking to God.
