Art News… Week 3
There is a nip in the air as Autumn draws in, leaves are falling and days are getting shorter. In school we are still full of Summer joy, happy to learn, laugh and live our best versions of ourselves!
In Art…
Reception have now split into groups so that everyone gets a quality art session on a Tuesday, Every child will get to take part in my activities every other week, this way no one is left out. This week and next the children have to think about how they look, the colour of their hair, eyes, skin etc as we created self portraits.
Year one had to decide, did they need a paintbrush to paint? We experimented with different items from the create room to see if we could make a mark and paint. We also learned how we clean up after ourselves and look after the create room, to make it nice , clean and sanatised for the next class.
Year two hade great fun responding to music. We had six different genres of music, we listened, danced and drew how this made us feel, what colours we thought the music would be.
Year three learned about different shading techniques as we drew them in light, mid and dark tones. We then showed what we had learned by filling a sheet with lots of different examples.
Year four came into art to find lots of natural items displayed on their tables such as feathers, shells, seeds and a beautufil cocnut all the way from Barbados. We drew these in our sketch books, really looking at what we actually see, not what we think we saw.
Year five had their second of three Hundertwasser lessons where we filled our inspired pictures with solid, bright and bold colours in oil pastels. Next week we add an acetate layer and draw in marker pen.
Year six had fun using their tone knowledge by making the staff into Pop Art , usind light, mid and dark tones in paint. All the staff were up for grabs and fairly picked from a bowl. Much excitement to see who would get Mrs Gregan and Miss Hornby!
Art Club met for their second session and turned themselves into a superhero while they chatted to the partners. Three more sessions before we swap for new members.
Have a wondeful weekend, I hope you haven’t been caught with Autumn colds etc. Stay safe.
God bless
Mrs Curtis
